The Impact of Emerging Micro and Nanotechnology (MNT) on the Production, Mixing, Blending & Packaging of Food.
4th October 2007, Sheffield, UK
Are Micro & Nano Technologies Relevant to Innovation in Today’s Food and Nutraceuticals Sectors?
South Yorkshire is home to some of the UK’s pre-eminent Micro and
Nanotechnology, and Bioscience research. Together with an existing
food manufacturing base this is creating a hot-bed of innovation in
the region. In fact, with rapidly growing expertise in its universities
and strategic support from government agencies, it is well placed
to take advantage – particularly through the supply chain and to leverage
international collaboration.
The food industry will not be immune from emerging disruptive or enabling
technologies. The challenge is to find out what the impact will be
early enough to be able to plan ahead and take the appropriate actions.
Realising the value of properly harnessing these technologies will
be critical to the continued growth of South Yorkshire’s food and
nutraceuticals sectors.
To develop thinking on these topics and to bring together a selected group of influential stakeholders, the Sheffield Bioincubator, Faraday Packaging and TFI Ltd are organizing a flagship one day event on 4th October 2007. This flagship event will bring together internationally recognized experts from academia, industry and start-up businesses to explore how emerging technologies will benefit the sector.
